Recently Phillips introduced us to the new 8115 series smart TVs. These Android-based smart TVs are launched in 3 sizes in total. One of the models priced INR 59,990 is 43- inches. The other two 50-inch and 55-inch models cost INR 79,990 and INR 89,990 respectively. The mentioned price may vary depending upon the retailers.
The display becomes the most important factor when it comes to televisions. The Philips 8115 comes with an LED display and supports 4K resolution. Moreover, it has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The amazing 4K UHD at 60 frames per second is supported by the panel. In addition to that, both HDR 10+ and Dolby vision support by the screen works as the cherry on the cake.
The visuals are really crisp and so are the colours, even with its standard picture mode.
In a well-lit room, the display holds its own, but a lot of direct light might interrupt a comfortable viewing experience. To be honest, a little more work in the level of blacks could be helpful. Although you can opt for the vivid mode but don’t expect much improvement.
The TV also struggles to keep up with the viewing angles. Once a person starts moving to any side, the display starts fading. Although no such issues occur if you watch in a straight line. A viewer also needs to maintain a healthy viewing distance to avoid distorted images.
The new Phillips 8115 comes with 20W speakers, containing two full-range 10W speakers. Along with that this TV contains other features like auto volume leveller, Dolby Atmos, Smart Sound and Clear Sound.
One of the most amazing features about this TV is that, despite having just 20W speakers, the TV manages to provide amazing sound quality. One can enjoy clear dialogues on this TV.
The Phillips 8115 smart TV used Android 10. The home page makes it simple to pick up where you left off across many OTT apps. The list of apps you’ve recently used will appear first, followed by recommendations from the platform you last viewed. In addition to that, it also contains a discover tab that shows the user’s customized top picks. It also shows series and movies in an organised manner, classified under a variety of genres.
The smart TV also comes with already loaded YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar etc.
If you consider the connectivity, the Phillips 8115 smart TV comes with four HDMI ports and 2 USB ports. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. There’s also digital audio out (optical), ethernet-LAN RJ-45, and headphones out on the TV.
The TV is pretty good for basic utility purposes. It lacks a little when it comes to the picture quality and the price factor. If the company anyhow manages to lower the price, it would capture the attention of many.
